Lance is a multimedia artist & mechanical engineer. He has always been drawn towards the renewable energy of the ocean. He has worked as a commercial salmon fisherman, a shipyard mechanic, and a wind turbine technician. Since 2010, Lance has been working toward building tidal current technology (like underwater wind turbines) to use in the fjords of Southeast Alaska. He lives in Juneau, Alaska, where he is building his company - Sitkana.
As an artist, Lance works in the coastlines where he experiences the calming rhythm of the tides. In his first series, Patience, he spent a year on a three-mile stretch of remote Thai coastline while he explored how to tell stories through long-exposure photography. His work is unedited, created only with light. He believes it should be seen as it was taken.
He is currently working in 4x5" large format film.
